In Genesis 18 (the Handout), God asks himself, â€œShall I conceal from Abraham what I am about to do?â€ What is he about to do? In the conversation that follows, what are God and Abraham talking about, and how does Abraham support his opinion? What is the significance of their having this discussionâ€”why is it important in thinking about the relationship between God and man?
Chapters 1-7: What arguments does Eliphaz the Temanite use to help Job understand and deal with what has
happened to him? How does Job respond to each argument? Try to state in plain English what Eliphaz is saying and how Job answers him.
Chapters 38-42: Summarize as well as you can in a paragraph or so what God says to Job and what Job says to God in the last few Chapters of The Book of Job. Then discuss: How is their conversation a conclusion to the Book of Job? â€”To what extent does God give or not give Job what he has been asking for?
