Review Paper Assignment
Description: You will be required to write a review paper that is relevant to the topic of the cardiopulmonary system and exercise. You will be assigned a contemporary topic in the field of cardiopulmonary exercise. However, if you have an original topic/idea then you are encouraged to discuss with Dr. Zuhl. The format is below.
Criteria:
1. Length – 8 to 10 pages (does not include references)
2. At least 20 references
3. 1 ½ spacing
4. At least one figure or table (you must make you own)
5. Font – 11 or 12 point Arial or Times New Roman
6. Include line numbering throughout (continuous)
Format:
Your paper should have the following components:
Title page
Name, degree, institution affiliation, and manuscript title
Abstract: limit of 250 words
Short summary of the review paper.
Introduction
Sub-heading 1 (choose a title)
Sub-heading 2 (choose a title)
Sub heading 3 – optional if needed (choose a title)
Conclusion
References – any style as long as you are consistent
Review paper schedule
9/26 – Outline due – see format for outline below. For this week
11/7 – Rough draft (100%) and exchange– no need to have all references completed but the bulk of the writing should be done. You will exchange your paper with a colleague for peer review. You must include line numbers of your rough draft.
11/21 – Review paper exchange
12/5 – Final submission
Outline guidelines
I. Introduction – provide background of your idea, the problem, and purpose

c. purpose of the paper (must have a purpose statement)
Note: I suggest including the appropriate references in the outline, this will help you as you begin writing the paper
NOTE: it is good to insert, or mention appropriate references for each section

b. be sure to address concerns or answer questions

III. Section II – topic heading (2nd objective)

IV. Section III – topic heading (3rd objective) – this section is optional and may not fit within your paper.
