Paragraph 1

Environmental pollution is currently the biggest challenge the word is facing today. Many rivers and lakes are too polluted for fishing, swimming, and aquatic life. This is because untreated storm water, industrial waste, and untreated sewage are being discharge annually into waters. In addition, soil degradation causes agricultural and industrial problems as well as deforestation. Furthermore, dense layers of airborne pollutants, mostly from coal plants, over some cities cause lung problems for people and animals. There are many sources of pollution and each one has its own effect on the environment and living organisms. The first type of pollution is water pollution. This kind of pollution is caused by wastewater, sewage, and fertilizers. The high levels of nutrients in these sources end up in bodies of water and promote algae and weed growth, which can make the water undrinkable and depleted oxygen causing aquatic organisms to die. Pesticides and herbicides applied to crops and residential areas concentrate in the soil and are carried to the groundwater by rainwater and runoff. For these reasons anytime someone drills a well for water it must be checked for pollutants. People in poor countries need to dig up wells in order to obtain safe drinking water.

Paragraph 2

For many learners, the primary benefit of online learning involves scheduling flexibility and the low cost. Some programs allow degree- and certificate-seekers to start a course immediately. In other cases, students can select between a traditional 16-week course and an accelerated eight-week course. This page highlights accelerated courses’ advantages in a later section. Although many online courses run asynchronously to provide maximum scheduling flexibility, some require learners to collaborate with peers at set times or meet with a professor during virtual office hours. Prospective students should research these requirements before signing up for an online course. Many prospective students overlook the cost advantages of online classes. Although online learners may pay the same per-credit tuition rate as on-campus degree- and certificate-seekers, they do not pay for on-campus housing or meal plans. Learners also save time and money by eliminating a commute. Other cost savings include cheaper textbooks, especially if online learners can purchase digital versions. As long as online learners take enough credits to qualify as part-time students, they can apply for federal financial aid programs, such as grants and loans. Most colleges also allow online degree- and certificate-seekers to apply for institutional aid, including need-based grants and merit-based scholarships.

Paragraph 3

Littering which is waste out of place, can cause a variety of issues beginning with the environmental impact leading towards the disruption of a community’s good health and quality of lifestyle.  It is important to keep your local community healthy and looking its best for today and future generations. One thing that can be done to help with the littering problems is educating other on the negative effects of littering. Education is a vital tool to help reduce littering.  Encourage others to refrain from overfilling garbage bins.  Wind can easily blow an overfilled bin’s lid open and disperse the trash throughout the neighborhood.  Post reminders on community bulletin boards on the effects of littering and how to reduce littering.  Educate children on proper disposal of trash and the detrimental effects caused by littering.  Most littering behavior occurred with notable intent. This included dropping, flick/fling of the item , and other littering with notable intent.  Therefore, education is key in preventing these carless habits.

Paragraph 4

Since alternative medicine offers a holistic, integrated approach to healing that may include practices such as herbal medicines, physical activity, chiropractic care, and acupuncture, it has become very popular lately. With more medical professionals beginning to suggest the use of alternative therapies in combination with conventional medical treatments, many more studies are being done to examine both the usefulness and safety of these non-traditional treatments. Since the 1960s, in Western societies, there has been a striking growth of consumer interest in alternative medicine. Lately, there has been an increased focus on a variety of therapies such as reflexology, acupuncture, meditation, aromatherapy, osteopathy and healing. The main reason why people turn to alternative medicine is the side effects or lack thereof. In most cases, effective alternative therapies have fewer or no side effects, in contrast to the frequent and sometimes severe effects of many prescription medications and other conventional medical treatments. However, depending on what medical conditions a person has, even natural remedies and other alternative therapies can sometimes cause minor side effects. Therefore, patients always need to consult their doctor before using any types of medicine.

Paragraph 5

Bullying that takes place over digital devices like cell phones, computers, and tablets is called cyberbullying. Cyberbullying includes sending, posting, or sharing negative, harmful, false, or mean content about someone else. It can include sharing personal or private information about someone else causing embarrassment or humiliation. More often than not victims experience powerfully negative effects (especially on their social well‐being). The first way to protect yourself from cyberbullying is to walk away. What you’ve heard about walking away from a real-life bully works in the virtual world too. Ignoring bullies is the best way to take away their power, but it isn’t always easy to do — in the real world or online. If you see something upsetting, try to step away from the computer or turn off your phone for a while. Find something to distract yourself from what’s going on. Taking a break like this allows you to keep things in perspective and focus on the good things in your life. It also gives you time to figure out how you want to handle things.
