Air pollution is contamination of the air by gases, liquids, or solids in amounts that harm humans, other living organisms, or the ecosystem, or that changes the climate. In NYC, what are the major sources of air pollutants? What are criteria pollutants? How do these affect communities…especially, the elderly and the very young? What is the difference between primary and secondary pollutants? How can citizens protect themselves from effects of constant levels of pollution? Lastly, discuss the role of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in protecting the environment. Is enough being done considering so many changes in environmental conditions?
Workplace violence affects 1.7 million workers in the United States each year, and homicide is the fourth leading cause of workplace fatalities. Reflecting on this, and reflecting on the four categories of workplace violence, what are the risk factors for encountering violence in the workplace? Provide some examples of these risk factors. Is workplace violence something that can happen to anyone at any time just by being at work or in a public/private venue conducting some other business? Which occupation is at greatest risk for workplace violence? Explain the reasons for this.
The A, B, C, D, Es of Melanoma: Cancer is a growing and ever-present concern…In the U.S., more than 1.2 million new cases of basal cell/squamous cell skin cancer are reported each year. Based on our chapter readings, course material, as well as the “Melanoma” handout, list and describe the ABCDEs of melanoma detection. Additionally, develop and discuss a prevention/intervention strategy for melanoma that includes primary, secondary, and tertiary prevention components.

Biology question 4

1.What is your opinion on culling? Is there a time that it is appropriate? Culling is the process of segregating organisms from a group according to desired or undesired characteristics. Humans usually cull by killing individuals of a species population.
Answer in 5 sentences
2. Well if one takes into account that a majority of all the domesticated animals we have to day are the results of culling. Dogs and cats are the most common to create different breeds. Breeding the traits or characteristics that people desire in their companions. Cows and sheep selective breeding to produce the most amount of milk, wool and meat. In previous years yes the humans would kill of the undesirables, and in some places I am sure they still do. Humans also do the same with the vegetables to produce bigger crops. I think we do this in order to continuously shape the world around us to our needs. In the end we risk completely losing the original species population, which is the sad part. The risk though of culling, or selective breeding
agree or disagree within 2-3 sentences

Water Resources – Fresh Water – Florida Springs

Introduction: The Florida Springs seem to be in the news quite a bit due to the challenges that they face in overcoming pressures from development, pollution and human activities. The Springs have been around for thousands of years and have an interesting and varied history. They have been valued by humans for many reasons over many years and are still valued today as an important natural freshwater resource.
Direction: For this Assignment, research and read articles, books, etc. that you find about Florida Springs. You can use any reputable peer reviewed source with proper referencing using APA standards. Concentrate on the environmental aspects of the springs and bringing attention to problem areas but do not neglect any social, business and political overlap. Consider the freshwater resource aspects as well.
Complete a project in one of the following formats, but regardless of the format chosen, the audience is the general public:

Develop a Written Brochure: It can be any number of designs (example Word file: tri-fold) but must be written and produced as a Public Service Announcement. All the criteria below must be fully addressed in the brochure at a minimum. Graphics are accepted if properly referenced but the most important information with respect to grading is the narrative material and the organization of the presentation.
Film a short Video Commercial: One to two minutes long after your introduction and produced as either a Public Service Announcement or a News Media reporting story. All the criteria below must be fully addressed in the video at a minimum. Use only yourself as the narrator and do not include other people in the video. Use video format/software generally available and provided with PC or MAC operating systems. Examples of video formats are MP4, MPEG, MOV, WMV, SWF or FLV. Remember, the instructor must be able to open the video file and view it for a grade.
Draft a PowerPoint Presentation: Ten to fifteen slides long and all criteria below must be fully addressed at a minimum. Graphics are accepted if properly referenced but the most important information with respect to grading is the narrative material and the organization of the presentation.

Address the following criteria at a minimum:

Course name, student name, Module number and date.
Choose an example of a Florida Spring and briefly describe it as a freshwater resource and what it has been used for.
Report the federal and state government rules or regulations that apply to Florida Springs, their protections, their use and any oversight.
Name the government agencies that have authority over the Florida Springs and describe their involvement.
Report and briefly explain at least two major environmental concerns related to the Florida Springs and one freshwater resource issue.
Explain the human activities that negatively impact Florida Springs.
Report on what is being done to protect the Florida Springs and the costs involved.
Propose at least one further action that could be taken to protect the Florida Springs.

Capella University Risk Management for Health Care Discussion Questions

For this week discussion use the Risk Management Handbook for Health Care Organizations text and the Internet to complete the following:
-Review Chapter 6, Early Warning Systems for the Identification of Organizational Risk, pgs181-218. Consider all of the different types of organization risk and possible solutions to common issue currently identified.
Read Chapter 7, The Risk Management Professional and Medication Safety, pgs219-260. The Chapter explores the specific issues related to medication safety. As a high profile issue, medication safety is a problem in all areas of health care from group homes, physician offices, skilled nursing facilities, hospitals, and even alternative medicine practices.
– Read the U.S. Department of Justice’s 2009 “Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center Settle False Claims Act Case.”
-Read the Health Care Compliance Association’s 2002 “Code of Ethics for Health Care Compliance Professionals.”
-Read the U.S. Department of Health and Human Service’s 2003 “National Healthcare Disparities Report.:
-Read the Institute for Healthcare Improvements ” Changes: Medication Systems.”

Read the John Hopkins case study. It will present you with a scenario and ask you to make a set of decisions. The roles and responsibilities of quality assurance and risk management will be addressed. Please feel free to refer to this scenario for this unit’s discussions and your final assignment. The information in this piece is needed for the next activity, which helps you learn about the national organizations involved in performance measurement. ( I will attached case study).
1. Changes for Improvement
Organizational risk can be managed through many different methods. The Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) lists many resources to assist with organizational risk analysis, change methods, and applications. There are best practice examples and planning documents, too. This discussion thread will focus on ways to develop a culture of safety through organizational risk analysis.
Go to the IHI’s “Develop a Culture of Safety.” Scroll to the “Changes for Improvement” section. Choose one of the topics listed in this area. In a 250- to 300-word post, synthesize this topic. Propose how this particular topic may be used for your own organization.
2. Incident Reporting
For all of the efforts put forth in risk analysis and risk management, errors and incidents will continue to occur. All health care organizations need incident and accident reports. This discussion thread concentrates on this type of reporting and analysis.
Based on the discussions in Chapter 6 of the text and the additional resources found on the IHI and HCCA Web sites, create a one-page incident report. Please state the type of health care environment (for example, hospital, et), and the type of incident your report would be used for in this environment. Attach your word document to this discussion thread.

MSNFP6011 Capella University Evidence Based Patient Centered Concept Map

Create an evidence-based, patient-centered concept map that illustrates an individualized approach to patient care, based on a patient case file of your choice.Evidence-based practice is a key skill in the toolkit of the master’s-prepared nurse. Its goal is to ensure that health care practitioners are using the best available evidence to ensure that patients are receiving the best care possible (Godshall, M., 2015.). In essence, evidence-based practice is all about ensuring quality care.
In this assessment, you have an opportunity to apply evidence-based practice and personalized care concepts to ensure quality care and improve the health of a single patient.
Assessment Instructions
Preparation
You have been presented with a number of patient case files in the Evidence-Based Patient-Centered Care media piece. You reviewed each case, selected one case for further research, and created draft evidence-based concept map to illustrate an approach to individualized care for the patient. In this assessment, you will build upon and refine your draft concept map and develop a supporting narrative.
Create your concept map and narrative as separate documents. Be sure to note the areas where you need to include your evidence-based support and where you need to make clear your strategies for communicating information to the patient and the patient’s family.
Note: Many organizations use the spider style of concept maps (see the Taylor & Littleton-Kearney article for an example). Also, if a specific style of concept map is used in your current care setting, you may use it in this assessment.
Create your concept map and narrative as separate documents. Be sure to note the areas where you need to include your evidence-based support and where you need to make clear your strategies for communicating information to the patient and the patient’s family.
Requirements
Note: The requirements outlined below correspond to the grading criteria in the scoring guide, so be sure to address each point. In addition, you may want to review the performance level descriptions for each criterion to see how your work will be assessed.
Supporting Evidence and APA Style
Integrate relevant evidence from 3–5 current scholarly or professional sources to support your assertions.

Apply correct APA formatting to all in-text citations and references.
Attach a reference list to your narrative.

Concept Map

Develop a concept map for the individual patient, based upon the best available evidence for treating your patient’s health, economic, and cultural needs.

Narrative
Develop a narrative (2–4 pages) for your concept map.

Analyze the needs of your patient and their family, and determine how those needs will influence a patient-centered concept map.

Consider how your patient’s economic situation and relevant environmental factors may have contributed to your patient’s current condition or affect their future health.
Consider how your patient’s culture or family should influence your concept map.

Justify the value and relevance of the evidence you used as the basis of your concept map.

Explain why your evidence is valuable and relevant to your patient’s case.
Explain why each piece of evidence is appropriate for both the health issue you are trying to correct and for the unique situation of your patient and their family.

Propose relevant and measurable criteria for evaluating the degree to which the desired outcomes of your concept map were achieved.

Explain why your proposed criteria are appropriate and useful measures of success.

Explain how you will communicate specific aspects of the concept map to your patient and their family in an ethical, culturally sensitive, and inclusive way. Ensure that your strategies:

Promote honest communications.
Facilitate sharing only the information you are required and permitted to share.
Are mindful of your patient’s culture.
Enable you to make complex medical terms and concepts understandable to your patient and their family, regardless of language, disabilities, or level of education.

Additional Requirements

Be sure to include both documents when you submit your assessment.

Understanding and Maintaining Your Pressure Distribution System (17m 9s)
Septic Mound System Installation using Infiltrator Chambers (13m 50s)
How To Read a Pump Curve 101 (9m 0s)
Pre-Discussion Work
As you have seen from the videos presented, especially the one from Washington on using pressurized systems, the results are reduced impact on receiving ground waters due to the unsaturated flow under the drainfield. You may wish to watch the video again. There have been proposals that no matter how good the soils is and the fact that a standard septic tank and drainfield can be installed that in all cases a low dose pressurized system must be used.
Drafting Your Response
Next, prepare your forum post by creating a Word Document or a Google document. On your document, answer the following questions:

Would you believe that this is a good proposal ?
If you were the environmental health person implementing such a requirement, knowing that it doubles and even triples the cost of a system, how would you go about justifying this to a permit applicant?
